— Spirit Logistics will add more than 2,000 full-time jobs to the Phoenix area by moving its logistics operations to the state, bringing its total number of full- and part-time positions in Arizona to more than 3,000.
The company will move its headquarters from Phoenix, home to more then 1,100 people, to the Arizona city of Tucson, which also hosts a Fortune 500 company, and will also expand its fulfillment center, according to the announcement from the company.
Spirit will hire up to 2,500 full- or part-timers, including 2,100 from the Phoenix metro area, the announcement said.
Its announcement comes just weeks after a group of former Phoenix employees filed a class-action lawsuit against the company and other large employers, claiming they were denied job opportunities and treated unfairly.
In December, Spirit agreed to a $15 million settlement with the state to resolve a class action lawsuit filed by the former employees and others.
Earlier this year, Spirit announced plans to relocate some of its workforce to Phoenix, which it also said would provide a more affordable and diverse work environment.
While the company said it will add 2,700 new full- time jobs to Phoenix by the end of 2018, it said that additional positions are planned for 2019, 2020 and 2021.
With more than 500 stores, Spirit Logistic will add about 1,500 jobs to Arizona by 2021, according the announcement.
